Glencoe

Glencoe was another stop on our Scotland road trip in July, though “stop” makes it sound more planned than it was. We were passing through when the waterfalls and rocky river kept making a case for pulling over. The valley was thoroughly green, the mountains pressed close, and low clouds hung over everything. Scotland’s rain had the water moving properly, with the stream bed offering a few useful rocks in the foreground.

The four photographs take in different parts of the same place: cascades over dark rock, a long exposure at Clachaig, and the wee white house tucked into the valley beneath the clouds. Nothing felt especially dry, which seemed fair enough. Glencoe has a way of making even a brief roadside pause last longer than intended; there’s always another waterfall or change in the clouds to check before getting back in the car.
