While we were living in Esbjerg, Denmark, a regular escape was the deer sanctuary. It was one of those spots you just kept going back to for a walk in the woods, especially when you needed a bit of quiet. This particular afternoon, we were just wandering through the dense woodland, probably trying to shake off the usual Danish grey, when the light decided to put on a bit of a show. It was autumn, so the leaves were already doing their thing on the forest floor, but then the sun just broke through the canopy. Suddenly, this one glade was completely lit up, really highlighting a central tree and all the fallen leaves. Just one of those moments where the dappled light makes you stop and actually pay attention.
