With a bit of unexpected downtime from the day job, we packed up for a last-minute trip to North-East England. We ended up in Alnmouth, and the weather wasn't exactly what you'd call 'clear skies' – a thick fog had rolled in. Turns out, sometimes that's better than bluebird days for photos, making everything feel a bit more atmospheric. Down on the sandy beach at low tide, I spotted someone out walking their dog, just a silhouette against the mist. The fog was doing its job, making the island and that old cross on it just barely visible, giving the whole scene a quiet, almost ethereal feel. It was one of those moments where the conditions you didn't plan for give you something completely different, but just as good.
