Living and working abroad for so long meant some of the best local spots just never made it onto the to-do list. Turns out the free circular walk around Chirk Castle, just down the road, was one of them. Still not quite sure why it took this long to get around to it, but glad I finally did. Caught this one as the autumn sun decided to put on a bit of a show, pushing through the canopy and lighting up the forest floor. The ferns were a mix of vibrant green and turning gold, with the light just hitting them right. A quiet moment, really, just the kind of scene you hope to stumble upon.
