Living in Esbjerg, Denmark, we often found ourselves heading to the local deer sanctuary for a walk in the woods. The animals there are pretty accustomed to visitors, mostly because people frequently turn up with food, which makes them fairly tame. It’s a reliable spot for a quiet afternoon. One particular autumn day, while wandering deeper into the sun-dappled forest, we came across this fallow deer. It was just standing there, completely at ease, letting the light filter through the canopy and highlight its impressive antlers. You don't often get a wildlife shot where the subject is quite so cooperative, but then again, these Esbjerg deer are practically part of the furniture.
