We ended up taking a last-minute trip to North-East England, thanks to a bit of a slowdown at the day job. It wasn't exactly planned, but sometimes those are the best ones, aren't they? While we were exploring the coast, we stopped off at St Mary's lighthouse in Northumberland. It’s one of those places that just sits out on its own rocky island, with its associated buildings looking pretty stoic under a cloudy sky. Not exactly postcard-perfect blue, but it certainly gave the whole scene a bit of character, which I don't mind at all. Sometimes the grey just works.
