Having some free time from the day job meant I could finally get out and explore a bit of the north-east. Ended up heading towards Amble in Northumberland, just seeing what was around. The weather wasn't exactly 'postcard perfect' but that's often when things get interesting, isn't it? Down on the estuary beach, the tide was out, revealing these old wooden pier remains sticking out of the sand. They had this real skeletal look against the clouds, so black and white felt like the only way to go. Just stood there for a bit, watching the light shift over the wrecks, all that weathered wood telling its own story.
