Living in Esbjerg meant Ribe was always on the list when family came to visit, especially around Christmas. We were there one afternoon, not long before the big day, and it had just seen a small dusting of snow, enough to make things feel a bit more festive without being a full-on blizzard. Walking along the Tved Lake boardwalk, the water was unusually calm, which always makes you stop and look twice. The bare trees and the houses on the far bank were all mirrored perfectly, just sitting there in the still surface. It was a quiet sort of winter scene, the kind that just asks for a moment to take it all in.
